Modules

Module Title Description
Mixing Techniques I Dive into the basics of mixing, learning how to balance tracks, adjust levels, EQ, and apply basic effects. The goal is to understand how to enhance individual tracks while maintaining clarity in the overall mix.
Mixing Techniques II Explore advanced mixing techniques, such as automation, sidechaining, and parallel processing. Students will refine their mixes, ensuring they meet professional standards for various genres of music.
Studio Techniques I This module introduces students to the technical aspects of working in a professional recording studio, covering the use of industry-standard software and hardware. Topics include signal flow, microphone techniques, recording setups, and session management.
Studio Techniques II Gain exposure to more complex studio work, such as multi-track recording, advanced mic placements, and working with different acoustic environments. Develop effective session management skills for a studio setting.
Mastering Learn how to polish finished mixes into fully mastered tracks. This includes learning how to prepare audio for different distribution formats, adjust loudness levels, and ensure consistency across tracks on an album.
Music Business Students will gain essential knowledge of the music industry, covering copyright, royalties, branding, and distribution. The module also explores career pathways, artist development, and monetising music in today’s digital landscape.
Sound for Moving Image This module introduces audio post-production techniques for visual media, including sound editing, foley, and ADR. Students will synchronise audio with picture and build immersive soundscapes for film, animation, and multimedia projects.
Digital Live Sound Engineering* Students will learn to set up and operate digital live sound systems. Topics include FOH mixing, monitor setup, EQ, effects routing, and managing small- to mid-scale live events using digital consoles and wireless systems.
Principles of Acoustics Understand how sound behaves in different spaces. This module dives deep into acoustic principles, teaching you how to optimize sound for various environments — whether it's a recording studio, a concert venue, or a home theater.
Sound Design for Video Games* In the fast-growing gaming industry, sound is critical for creating immersive experiences. This module equips you with the skills to design sound effects and atmospheric audio for video games, enhancing the player's interaction with the game world.
Music Design for Games* This module focuses on composing interactive music for games. Students will use vertical layering and sequencing techniques to build adaptive scores that respond dynamically to gameplay events and player actions.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following entry requirements to enrol:

- Minimum Age: 16 years old

- Academic Qualifications
  • Completed GCE ‘A’ Level with at least 2 H2 passes or equivalent and relevant course-related qualifications; OR
  • Foundation Diploma in Music Production and Audio Engineering from Asian Screen Institute; OR
  • Mature candidates (≥ 30 years old with 8 years of relevant work experience)

- English Language Proficiency:
  • GCE ‘O’ Level English with minimum grade C6; OR
  • IELTS 5.5 (with no band less than 5.0); OR
  • Equivalent English language qualification
